Summary in English
Both Nishad and his ten-year-old sister Maya were always curious about their neighbor Mr. Nath. Once Nishad's marbles accidentally went inside Mr. Nath's house and got a chance to peek inside the house. Nishad thought that he was some criminal, who had been evading the police. He has a scar on his face and has no friends, but for his mother, Mr. Nath is a patient and his mother told him that he is a gentleman. The second name of Nishad was also 'Seven', because his name was on the seventh note of music, 'Nishad'.
The two children were discussing
about their mysterious neighbor. They were discussing about his financial
condition, his means of food and drink etc. According to Nishad, he was a poor
man. He did not have much money, whereas Maya thought that she had a lot of
money and kept this money hidden in her room. After this, the wound on Mr.
Nath's face was bothering both the children. Those people felt that he might
have got this wound during the encounter with the police. On his mother's
birthday, Nishad accompanied her to the clinic.
There he saw Mr. Nath. He was
shocked to see her slim body. In the evening of that day, Nishad went to his
house and gave him chocolate. Nishad briefly met Ramesh, who used to bring food
for Mr. Nath from nearby restaurants. Ramesh told her that Mr. Nath eats twice
a day and has tea in the morning and evening. Their meals were the same daily
and they paid cash with tips. On Sundays he would bring two plates of food and
every time he saw the same guest. The guest was a tall, sturdy man and wore
glasses. He was talkative, whereas Mr. Nath was a man of calm nature. The
children were horrified and now both felt that this person was definitely evil.
After the summer vacations, his
school was opened the next day, but he could not go to school due to heavy
rain. When Nishad was busy reading the comic, Maya wanted to tell him
something. He had noted down everything related to Mr. Nath and named it 'fact'
and assigned one mark to each fact. Nishad disagreed that Maya was calling him
a criminal.
Nishad feels bad for Mr. Nath not
having any friends, but according to Maya, the person who visits him every
Sunday is his criminal accomplice and also knows all the places where he hides
his secrets and loot. A heated argument ensued between the two children and
Nishad felt bad that Maya was treating him as a criminal. Nishad just wanted to
know why Mr. Nath is so thin and lonely? He wanted to be a friend of hers and
Nishad was not at all sure of Maya's facts.

निषाद और उसकी दस वर्षीय बहन माया दोनों अपने पड़ोसी श्री नाथ के बारे में हमेशा उत्सुक रहते थे। एक बार निषाद के कंचे गलती से श्री नाथ के घर के अंदर चले गए और घर के अंदर झाँकने का मौका मिला। निषाद ने सोचा कि वह कोई अपराधी है, जो पुलिस से बच रहा था। उसके चेहरे पर एक निशान है और उसका कोई दोस्त नहीं है, लेकिन उसकी माँ के लिए मिस्टर नाथ एक मरीज है और उसकी माँ ने उसे बताया कि वह एक सज्जन व्यक्ति है। निषाद का दूसरा नाम भी 'सात' था, क्योंकि उनका नाम संगीत के सातवें स्वर 'निषाद' पर था।
दोनों बच्चे अपने रहस्यमय पड़ोसी के बारे में चर्चा कर रहे थे। वे उसकी आर्थिक स्थिति, उसके खाने-पीने के साधन आदि के बारे में चर्चा कर रहे थे। निषाद के अनुसार, वह एक गरीब आदमी था। उसके पास ज्यादा पैसे नहीं थे, जबकि माया ने सोचा कि उसके पास बहुत पैसा है और इस पैसे को अपने कमरे में छिपा कर रखा। इसके बाद श्री नाथ के चेहरे पर लगे घाव दोनों बच्चों को परेशान कर रहे थे। उन लोगों को लगा कि शायद पुलिस से मुठभेड़ के दौरान उन्हें यह घाव मिला होगा। अपनी मां के जन्मदिन पर निषाद उनके साथ क्लिनिक गए।
वहाँ उन्होंने श्री नाथ को देखा। उसके दुबले-पतले शरीर को देखकर वह चौंक गया। उसी दिन शाम को निषाद उसके घर गया और उसे चॉकलेट दी। निषाद कुछ समय के लिए रमेश से मिले, जो पास के रेस्तरां से श्री नाथ के लिए खाना लाते थे। रमेश ने उसे बताया कि मिस्टर नाथ दिन में दो बार खाते हैं और सुबह और शाम चाय पीते हैं। उनका भोजन प्रतिदिन एक जैसा था और वे युक्तियों के साथ नकद भुगतान करते थे। रविवार को वह दो थाली भोजन लाता था और हर बार एक ही अतिथि को देखता था। मेहमान एक लंबा, मजबूत आदमी था और उसने चश्मा पहना हुआ था। वे बातूनी थे, जबकि श्री नाथ शांत स्वभाव के व्यक्ति थे। बच्चे डर गए और अब दोनों को लगने लगा कि यह आदमी जरूर दुष्ट है।
